Peter's right to point out what a lot of managers don't typically take into account, namely the opportunity cost of making a change like that. When you're porting things or your developers are having to spend time learning new skills, that's time you're not spending doing something more productive. That isn't to say it never makes sense to change technologies, but if it's a cost issue I hope they're taking the entire picture into account. Drupal and WordPress are great tools, but they're just that--tools. You can run those apps without having to change over entirely to PHP.
