The bug is (quoted from Eric's message):

Basically, the APPL file type dropdown menu is only cosmetic under 5.1, it
doesn't do anything.  I have also observed this bug (and reported it).

Also, if I set a helper for Quicken Web Connect files (*.qfx) to
post-process downloads within Quicken, Mac IE does not launch Quicken after
downloading a .qfx file.  I still have to manually launch the application.
This was working fine under Mac IE classic.
