We had some problems with older Macs being connected to our old Bay network
switches. I don't remember what the problem was exactly, but upgrading our
old Quadra 605s to OS 8.1 fixed it. I think it was related to the version
of Open Transport running on the machine.

The Macs dated from 93-94, their network cards around 95 and the switches
were installed around 1996.
