We have 3 networked iMacs running OS 9 and Palm Desktop 4.0. I would
like to have all 3 have access to a single User Data file, which any
could modify, so any changes to the office calendar would be immediately
available to and consistent for all. All 3 components have read/write
permissions.

When attempting to access the User Data file from one of the remote
computers, a "File is busy." error comes up, although no programs are
running on the main computer on which the User Data file resides. This
seems to be owing to the Palm Desktop Backgrounder app., which I cannot
seem to disable. We also tried having the remote computer open the User
Data file on the main computer (without having the Palm Desktop
installed on the remote computer), but this results in a Type 3 error.

Has any member of the list encountered and conquered this problem, or
otherwise have any other recommendations?

TIA,
Lor
