To run appleshare over IP (that is using the IP address to locate the 
server) I believe that the the server needs to be running 8.5.. or 
maybe it is 8.6... So in this case you will not get to the 7100 using 
the IP address.

If on the server (the 7100)

1) If on the server (the 7100) the control panel File Sharing you 
fill in the owner name, password (password can be blank) and computer 
name and click on the Start button for file sharing...

2) If on both the server (the 7100) and the client (the 950) the 
control panel Appletaalk you choose "connect via ethernet" and 
AppleTalk is turned on

3) If on the client (the 950) you go the the chooser and choose 
AppleTalk you should see the server listed.

4) and if the LAN's switches, hubs, and routers are set to allow AppleTalk.


Note: file sharing does not need to be turned on on the client 
machine (the 950) but must be turned on on the server machine (the 
7100)
