Laptops are much more structured in how they can display a screen. They don't have anywhere near as much flexability as a CRT. What you can do is check the Monitors control panel. There should be an option for displaying the Recommended resolutions, and that popup *may* have a choice for displaying ALL resolutions. If it does, pick all, and then see if the 640x480 60Hz is listed.
