Thanks Jim,

First... Get a router that'll pass AT packets. My D-Link DI-704 works fine and they're cheap. $25 delivered on that auction site.
DI-704 isn't wireless. How to go wireless and RETAIN shared printing is my whole question, but I get yer point. If cheap wasn't important I wouldn't be asking about a 6 year old Etherprint box : ) I would have just traded in my Linksys BEFW11S4 for the equivalent Asante wireless, $80 with AT print server built in, end of story. But the BEFW11S4 was almost free so here I am ...

Second... My network is as follows:
Beige G3DT running X.2.6 > Cat 5 > DI-704 > Cat 5 > a silly little 4 port hub >Cat 5 > Etherprint Bridge > Localtalk dongle > four wire phone cord > Localtalk dongle > QMS PS1700 Laserprinter (Seen as HP LJ 4Si)
Thank you! Like seeing the holy grail for me, I now understand how critical to spell out every piece and I'll do it for my network:

A DSL modem > cat 5 > BEFW11S4 > cat 5 > PB G3 X.2.6 > Belkin USB to parallel > Epson SC600
B > built-in Airport card PB G4 X.2.6

Software? None.
ditto

Oh yeah... I have had NO success networking Epson printers to anything from an SE30 to an iMac. Epsons are intended to be 'personal' printers. Their sharing software is, by far, the worst stuff I've ever seen. Your trying to go from parallel to USB to who knows what to Appletalk to Ethernet is a non-starter. I'll be really surprised if you make it work.
I have had ONLY success sharing the networked Epson. I print from the G4 from anywhere in the house. I think Clark's most recent post explains why - AT through almost any wired router is not an issue.

Get a real printer. Even an old HP Deskwriter is a better choice.
How ironic - I have an HP DW! I stopped using it when I got the Epson 5 years ago! It is a horrendous next to my (shared) Epson. Maybe the Epson will turn around and bite me as I move ahead, I didn't know they were bad sharers (but I use gimp-print drivers, maybe that makes all the difference?). If it will still power up, I can use the HP as necessary to see if the Epson is a problem.

I have learned a lot today (thanks everybody!), modeled on Jim's, Clark's and others' systems I was about to declare I would give this cheap angle a shot:

1. scrounge an AT-capable hub out of the dustbin at work ($ 0)
2. buy some Farallon PhoneNet dongles from that auction site (~ $6 delivered)

Try:
A BEFW11S4 > cat 5 > hub > cat 5 > Etherprint Bridge > dongle > cord > dongle > Epson SC600
B > wireless cardbus card > PB G3 10.2.6
C > built-in Airport card PB G4 10.2.6

I say I was about to declare because now Clark's latest post suggests it would be fruitless, the wireless access point is not likely to accept AT. So I'll back off to considering the above, but want to explore Clark's issues a bit more.

Because sharing the Epson is trivial when it is networked, if this fails then I'll probably take up my mother's requests to accept her dust-gathering iMac, figure out a way to get it across seven states and then park it next to the printer and router downstairs, and be done with printer issues for another five years. Ok maybe not five years ...
