I also NEED to have a WAP that supports Appletalk. Anybody have a preferred brand/model to recommend for 802.11b? Preferrably something I can get cheap?
"supports AppleTalk". Please elaborate your exact needs. AppleTalk is a whole protocol stack. It can ride on IP, or at a lower layer, ride Ethernet (as EtherTalk) or serial lines (as LocalTalk), etc. Are you looking for every service AppleTalk provides (node assignement, routing table updates, etc) or just specific services (such as file or printer sharing).
WAPs such as Apple's Airport Extreme fully bridge ethernet packets. So both IP and EtherTalk are "supported". Other WAPs aren't full bridges; they just route IP packets. So they won't do EtherTalk, but they will do things such as AppleShareIP (afp; AppleTalk File Sharing over IP).
