First, thru a wired connection, log onto your Linksys.
 Change the SSID to a unique set of characters, such
as "J1436" - something you can remember.  Turn off the
SSID broadcast, too.  You might also change the
boardcast Channel - I use Channel 6.  Save and reboot
the Linksys.

Second, while still attached as a wired connection,
download "iStumbler" via macupdate.com, and install it
on your main laptop.  Go wireless.

Third, fire up iStumbler.  It will pick up all the
wireless connections in the area.  Select your network
in the iStumbler window, and, from the AIRPORT menu,
choose JOIN.  That should do it.

Finally, if your neighbor is broadcasting on the same
Channel, select another Channel at least two from his
channel in your router.  You'll get this info from
iStumble.
