I have a few mins to answer a couple of these but not all.

Thanks for the info. Actually I know this already but don't like the
trade-offs.

First it doesn't work with three of the computers on my network because
they can't run OSX or newer. This includes the Amiga (which is frustrating
because I just got it seeing my network with Appletalk.) :-(

2nd and this is more worrisome. With Appletalk over IP "turned on" all my
OS9 Macs are vulnerable to internet access. So I have to rethink my whole
network security issues. Until I get a better solution I can't use Tiger as
much as I would like. I wish Apple would put regular Appletalk back into
Tiger then that wouldn't be an issue.

Thanks, I really appreciate it!

Hmmmm. I have a different take on this. Actually all OSs (that I know of)
have invisible files. In fact the Amiga .info files were "invisible"
because they didn't have an icon. Also any file on the Amiga that didn't
have an icon was the equivalent of an invisible on the Mac (at least on
OSX.)

Guess you are getting used to depending on the GUI for file access. :-)

With OSX you have a new level of invisible. Not only is a file invisible
when the GUI can't see it but it can be made to be invisible to the command
line as well. I want to see all my files in the GUI.

When you get used to WYSIWYG you like to depend on it. Another one of my
complaints about OSX. Guess they want to hide all the Unix dirt from those
that like to clean up their Macs.

Very busy. I saw family one day but otherwise spending most of my limited
energy on troubleshooting these G3 computers. This bunch has a bunch of
issues to work around. I think they gave them to us because they had
problems with them.

Got curious so downloaded it myself. So you won't have to send it. I
believe I have heard of Snax before, someone told me it uses "bots" instead
of traditional search tools so you can even use it to search the internet.
Sounds like fun to try out.

I can think of only three files that Apple doesn't make an icon for
(invisible) on OS9. Have no idea how many are on OSX?

So you can see them with Snax but not with the finder? Guess if there isn't
an icon for something on the Amiga then OSX translates that into invisible?
Are they invisible to the command line as well?

Kewl!

So you can do this with any Finder window? That would be nice.

Power!! hehehehe

Thanks for all the information and checking out the .info problem.

Gotta go myself,

Bob
