AP: ''[Apple] Believers make other cultists seem tame''
By ron carlson, Insanely Great Mac
May 28th 2002

Without mention of Apple''s iApps, nearly bullet-proof operating system or superior
ease-of-use, one reviewer reduces choosing a Mac to religious fervor

In the first line of his "review," the AP''s Larry Blasko states, "The new iMacs are
cute and powerful, but more expensive than a trophy wife." He follows this observation
with other gems:

"You''d still get more out of a PC for US$999, but it''s understood that Apple True
Believers make other cultists seem tame,"

"...an Intel Celeron processor clocking at 1.6 gigahertz, a clock spoeed almost
twice as fast as the iMac. And yes, clock speed is just one component of overall
performance, but... ,"

"No doubt about it, for being nifty-looking, the iMac wins hands down. But unless
you''re willing to pay a US$271 tribute in artistic appreciation and that''s before
shelling out for the missing floppy drive it''s something to consider carefully."

After reading Mr. Blasko''s "review" one has to wonder if he even bothered to boot up
the iMac. He doesn''t make any mention of the software included or OS X as if these
things are assumed equal with the stuff M$ offers. It seems that he merely compared
spec sheets of the systems mentioned.

A floppy drive? Who uses floppy drives? Do you still use floppies? Does anyone use
floppy drives?

If ignorance is bliss, then our new friend Larry must be one absolutely giddily happy
person. Talk about a reality distortion field. Good grief.
