MacSlash moves to org domain after hijacking
By Michael Flaminio, Insanely Great Mac
June 3rd 2002

MacSlash.com is now MacSlash.org, at least for a while.

Slash-dot Mac community site MacSlash has found its Web site displaced. Last week the
Web site discovered that its Web address no longer pointed to its servers and that
someone else now owned the domain. The new owners appear to be a squatter/aggregate
traffic entrepreneur. The domain is listed as registered on 5/28/02. It''s not clear
whether the domain expired or was hijacked, but billing appears to have been current
according to postings on MacSlash.
A note by MacSlash''s Ben Stanfield described the ordeal. "It appears that the
MacSlash domain no longer belongs to me. At this point, I''m not sure what is
happening, but several people have sent me emails saying they can no longer reach
MacSlash and I assume that something is propogating through the DNS system. There''s
obviously some mistake (I''ve owned and paid for MacSlash for quite awhile now), and
It''ll hopefully be easy (and fast) to sort everything out and get everything back to
normal."

The Web site notes that the registration company Dotster has been looking into the
domain''s ownership. Progress may be underway, as now the macslash.com Web site
contains a link directing visitors to the macslash.org Web site.
