Macworld numbers top 58,000

Though IDG couldn''t claim a record, they do claim the event is "the best-attended
technology event in New York City"
IDG World Expo has announced that 58,250 participants made the pilgrimage to Macworld
Conference & Expo at the Jacob K. Javits Center last week to experience the newest
hardware and software for the Mac. Already the best-attended technology event in New
York City, as well as in San Francisco, this year''s Macworld Conference & Expo/New
York featured a show floor with nearly 250 exhibitors.
"Once again, the Mac community has come out in full force to investigate the latest
for the Macintosh and learn from their peers," said Charlie Greco, president and CEO,
IDG World Expo. "The passion and enthusiasm of this community drives the continued
success of Macworld Conference & Expo. As New York City''s largest technology event,
Macworld is a bright light in an otherwise dim industry."
"We at Alias/Wavefront were highly impressed with the Macworld New York Expo this
year," said Karen Eisen, global industry marketing manager, Maya 3D. "Despite the
current economic climate, our booth was continuously swamped with show attendees eager
to learn more about Maya on Mac OS X. We sold a seat of Maya within the first two
minutes of the show opening -- what a great way to start a show!"
The next Macworld Conference & Expo will be held at San Francisco''s Moscone Center,
January 6-10, 2003.
Analysis: The pre-show hyperbole stated that this year''s Macworld New York would be
the "biggest ever." With attendance down slightly, off some 6,000, and vendors fewer,
it''s hard to imagine how they reckon that. Thoughts anyone?
