Here''s another alternative to Outlook Express, Entourage and Apple''s own e-mail
client.
CTM Development has announced the release PowerMail 4.0, an e-mail application for X
and Classic.
New in this release:
� "Recent Mail" interactive log window - useful to quickly process mail
� Partial POP3 downloads - selectively fetch large messages
� SSL security - for IMAP, POP3 and SMTP with multiple authentication
� Server-side mail management - to clean up server contents
� Enhanced address book - includes daughter windows for groups
� User interface redesign - complies with Mac OS X Aqua guidelines
� Text clippings - stationery-like feature for repetitive messages
� Mail Schedulings and Locations - new mobile and PowerBook-friendly settings
� Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) compatibility and Quartz text smoothing
� English, Japanese, French, German and Dutch user-interfaces
PowerMail 4.0 includes 67 improvements (38 new features and 29 fixes) and has been
designed to be a robust and sustainable alternative to "ordinary" Macintosh e-mail
applications. This app costs $49 and is available directly from CTM.
Analysis: With Apple''s improved, system-wide address-book application, I wonder if
smaller ISVs will work together (i.e. CTM and OpenOffice.org) to create a suite that
beats M$ Office on features and price? It certainly is a posibility.
