Larry Ellison Resigns From Apple Board

Ellison departs after five years on Board.
Apple Director and Oracle CEO, Larry Elllison, has resigned from Apple''s Board of
Directors.
Apple made the announcement this morning, including a statement from Ellison:
"I will continue to offer my advice to Steve and the executive management team at
Apple, but my schedule does not currently allow me to attend enough of the formal
board meetings to warrant a role as a director."
Ellison''s friend and Apple CEO added "Larry has served Apple shareholders well as a
director during the past five years. We''re looking forward to benefiting from his
counsel on an informal basis going forward. "
Ellison''s withdrawal from the Apple Board had not been mooted, although Oracle''s
fortunes have fallen in recent years, along with the rest of the tech industry.
Ellison was installed on the board by Jobs when he became interim CEO in 1997, upon
his replacement of Dr. Gil Amelio. Jobs also cleared the rest of the board, including
original board member Mark Markkula.
