Reunion 8: X compatibility, new features
By ron carlson, Insanely Great Mac
October 1st 2002
Get your family together in one place without the same-old arguments
Leister Productions has announced the release of Reunion 8 -- the company's flagship
app and perhaps the best genealogy software for the Mac. With full support for the Mac
OS -- 8.5 through X.2 -- this app offers new charting, dynamic/flexible record
numbering and, of course, the ability to get your entire family into a single location
without them wrangling over the date and venue.
The Reunion 8 CD includes separate versions of the app for OS X and Classic -- two
different applications, virtually identical in functionality, but each one optimized
and designed for its native OS. The installer automatically knows which flavor to
install. Naturally, the OS X version runs natively (Cocoa) on Mac OS X and offers a
fully "Aqua-fied" interface.
New features in Reunion 8 include completely revamped chart editing, more columns in
lists, dynamic/flexible numbering systems, register reports that can include
parenthetical lists, LDS support, the option to display children in a list on the
family card and many more.
Reunion 8 is available for $59 and those that purchased v7.0 on May 1, 2002 or later
may upgrade at no cost (the user must a shipping/handling charge of $5, must order
before Dec 31, 2002).
Editor's note: Reunion 8 can help you collocate and organize your family's history.
This is the kind of info you should (yes, that's a value judgement on my part) to pass
onto your kids, to pass around at reunions and keep for your posterity.
