Toast 5.2 update announced
By ron carlson, Insanely Great Mac
October 2nd 2002

This latest version supports X.2 and CD-Text, as well as better performance

Roxio has announced that Toast 5.2 Titanium is shipping worldwide to retailers and
updates for existing Toast 5.0 Titanium customers are available for free. With the
upgrade, Toast, the #1 selling CD and DVD burning software for the Mac, adds support
for X.2 and for writing CD-Text, giving consumers the ability to add disk name and
track titles to recorded discs for display on CD-Text enabled players. The upgrade
also enables burning at speeds up to 52x, and improves the color, contrast and
encoding performance on VideoCDs.

"Roxio is committed to the Macintosh community and wants to provide our customers
support for Mac OS 10.2 in order take full advantage of Apple's latest release," said
Vito Salvaggio, Roxio's vice president of product management. "CD-Text support and the
VideoCD enhancements to Toast 5.2 are important upgrades that give consumers more
powerful capabilities and more control of their media."

For existing Toast 5.0 Titanium customers, the Toast 5.2 Titanium upgrade is available
for free. Toast 5.2 Titanium is available for $99.95 (SRP) at retail or direct from
Roxio. Multi-user licenses are available in convenient "10-packs," as well as through
the RoxioLicense Now! volume purchase program.

As of 10:20am (EST), the updater was still not available. However, it will likely be
posted to Roxio's Toast software update page soon -- .

Editor's note: As we reportedearlier, a nearly complete beta version of Toast 5.2 was
"accidentally" released last week. Some users reported problems while others said that
previously extant glitches had been remedied. If you get hold of this final version of
the update, please post a comment below with your impressions.
