iMac: 'It's more than just hip'
By ron carlson, Insanely Great Mac

PC Magazine again ladles praise on a Apple product

PC Magazine has picked Apple's SuperDrive-equipped iMac (15-inch model) as its 2002
"Editor's Choice" consumer desktop. Though the publication did find several faults --
lack of wireless input devices and speakers -- overall the Apple's consumer desktop
simply dusts the competition based on Apple's legendary ease-of-use and powerful
bundled applications.

"The iMac isn't just about hip styleit's a bold reminder of Apple's ability to design
simple-to-set-up computers and bundle essential and appealing applications," boasts
the article. "Whether you find the design aesthetically pleasing or not, the iMac,
with its 15-inch flat-panel display (a 17-inch display is also available) perched atop
a stem, akin to a funky flower pot, makes a lasting impression -- and our Editors'
Choice in this category."

Further, despite the fact that the iMac -- like nearly all Macs shipping today --
includes little no real documention, PC Magazine claims "you won't miss it" because
the design and integration of the entire package is just that good.

Editor's note: For the last few months, Apple hardware and software has received
plaudit after plaudit from PC-centric, both print and online, worldwide. However, it
may take several years of such drooling praise before the masses finally gets and
Apple's market share once again approaches 10 percent. Yesterday, we reported on the
praises PC Mag sings for Apple's Xserve.
