TypeIt4Me Goes X at MacExpo
By Remy Davison, Insanely Great Mac
November 24th 2002
Finally off the beta list, Riccardo Ettore's mature typing utility is on the
'must-have' shareware list.
After a lengthy beta program, developer Riccardo Ettore has finally declared his
indispensible TypeIt4Me Utility 'Golden Master' - for OS X.2 (Jaguar).
TypeIt4Me is a shareware favorite dating back to early System 7 days. It allows users
to compile a database - or several - of frequently-used words or phrases - for
example, your full email signature - which are typed automatically. For instance, you
could type 'mailsig', hit the space bar, and your entire signature (even if it
includes one of Shakespeare's sonnets), will be typed automatically.
TypeIt4Me X runs as a background application and can be set to launch at startup via
system preferences.
It costs $27, 25 Euro or 16. Upgrades from the Classic version cost $9. The Classic
version is also available for download.
Analysis: Writers, editors, just plain word-crunchers swear by TypeIt4Me. It will
increase your productivity if, for example, you're coding HTML and want to rid
yourself of the repetitive task of writing tags over and over again. It's a mature and
well-integrated product in X.
