FireWire Depot burnishes SuperGuard line

Keep your data safe with these hardware-key encrypted enclosures

FireWire Depot has released its latest 3.5-inch FireWire/USB 2.0 combo enclosure, the
SuperGuard 3. With top secured DES 64-bit/40bit key strength, SuperGuard 3 enclosures
with hardware-key security provide a better grade of protection for your data.

"Even if the entire drive was stolen, no one [can] read your data," states the
company's PR. "SuperGuard 3 is a cutting edge technology product that offers the
military grade protection for your classified data."

Unlike password and/or smart card protection, SuperGuard 3 provides a silicon-based
real-time encryption/decryption solution, capable of processing 66MB/s of data without
taking any system resources.

SuperGuard 3 is designed for use at banks, insurance providers and government
agencies, as well as health care and intellectual property developers to protect their
data.

With a high-performance FireWire-1394 and USB 2.0/1.1 bridge adapter built-in, the
SuperGuard 3 can easily convert an internal IDE Hard DIsk Drive into a Firewire and
USB 2.0/1.1 interfaced external device.

The SuperGuard is expected to ship Feb 7 (next week) and is priced at $139.00 direct.

Editor's note: One application not mentioned but surely relevant is sensitive employee
data storage.
