I Want an iBook and I Want it Painted Black
By Remy Davison, Insanely Great Mac
February 2nd 2003

Custom paint jobs jazz up the iBook.

Well - black. And blue. And orange. Slashdot notes this customized iBook, which we now
like to call the 'Surfer Dude's iBook'.

This one's done by Christophe Jobic, who's a photog, but also paints 600MHz DVD iBooks
in his spare time (quelle domage).

Regardless of your estimation of his design work, it's sure-as-hell a lot better than
Flower Power.

There's probably still a market for colorful Macs out there - especially portables.
Hands up if you're bored with Titanium/Aluminium/White already.

A shiny black iBook would look great, or even some slip on colors, la PowerBook 1400
(the transparent lid cover which allowed you to stick custom designs behind it]. After
all, it's not like people disliked the Fruity iBooks. Or black PowerBook G3s, for that
matter.

If you're into color, maybe this red iBook, also noted by Slashdot in 2002 [the author
is M. Paulton, judging by his .mac handle, and he's open to offers for his work].

Nice.

So. How about bringing some color back into computing, Steve? Third-party hardware
makers and retailers hate it, but jeez, you can get one cheap Tangerine round mouse
during the sales.
