Meetinghouse X-compatible beta client out

New 802.1X client authentication solution includes Cisco LEAP, TTLS, PEAP support
Meetinghouse has announced an enhanced version of AEGIS Client software for X. The new
version of Meetinghouse's 802.1X-based client authentication solution provides the
broadest selection of EAP (Extensible Authentication Protocol) methods available,
including, TLS, TTLS, PEAP, LEAP and MD5.
"Meetinghouse is excited to be providing a standards-based authentication solution for
Mac OS X," said Dr. Paul Goransson, president. "Education is one of the largest
vertical markets in the US utilizing WLAN technology. Because education represents
such a heavy concentration of Mac OS X, it just makes sense to serve this market."
In an environment of increasing Wireless LAN deployment universities, in particular,
rely heavily on the Mac operating system. Meetinghouse offers a proven method of
securing the Mac and other operating systems on WLANs to keep unauthorized users off
the network.
Using industry standard 802.1X technology, AEGIS provides secure standards-based user
authentication for wireless LANs in enterprise and public access networks. In
addition, AEGIS mitigates commonly known vulnerabilities and weaknesses in 802.11
wireless networking by providing the enhanced tunneling authentication solutions, TTLS
and PEAP.
The new version of AEGIS Client for Mac OS version will be commercially available on
Feb 28th. A beta version of the AEGIS Client for Mac OS is available for download. The
AEGIS Client is priced at $39.99 with volume discounts available. AEGIS Server pricing
ranges from $2,500 to $3,200.
Editor's note: Good news on the enterprise side just keeps rolling in. In case you're
not aware of it, education is one of the largest "enterprise" markets and Apple still
holds a fair slice of that segment.
