iMovie updated to v3.0.2
By ron carlson, Insanely Great Mac
March 6th 2003
A plethora of documented bugs and performances await
Apple has released an updated for its popular but of late much complained about iMovie
consumer video application. Though the complaints are many and well documented, the
description that accompanies this dot-update is terse to say the least:
"This software update provides improved performance and stability with iMovie 3."
However, the installer itself provides a few welcome details:
... Access to your iPhoto library, pictures and albums (requires iPhoto version 2.0
or later)
... Access to your iTunes library, songs, and playlists (requires iTunes version 3.0
or later)
... Chapter marker support for iDVD (requires iDVD version 3.0 or later)
... One-click iDVD project creation (requires iDVD version 3.0 or later)
... Pan and zoom effects to add motion to digital photos
... Enhanced audio tools
... New, resizeable window and streamlined user interface
... New title styles
... Professional-quality video and sound effects
... A new and improved Help system
Users can choose to download via either Software Update or as a stand-alone installer,
here.
Editor's note: For some reason, the installer (via Software Update) reported it
couldn't find the install location. A quick check of my version revealed it to be
v3.0.2, which doesn't seem particularly likely given that this update has just been
released and that Software Update has been set to manual. Where did this come from?
A fresh install (the full v3 installer weighs a whopping 80MB) is in the works and I
will report my results below.
