Wozniak Leaves Danger Board of Directors
By Remy Davison, Insanely Great Mac
March 10th 2003

Apple co-founder now on advisory board of startup.

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak's brief return to the rough-and-tumble of business has
been relatively short-lived. Woz has left the board of Danger, which develops Hiptop,
a combo cell phone/web browsing handheld.

However, Woz will remain on Danger's advisory board, reports USA Today. Wozniak
returned to the tech business world in 2002 with Wheels of Zeus (WoZ), which develops
wireless products.

"It made sense. My capacity is much more like an advisory board member anyway. I'm
much more concerned about Danger's products, quality and how those products are doing.
As Danger moves away from being a start-up and its board focuses more on company
operations, my value as a director was less," Wozniak says in the article.

Analysis: Not surprising. Woz - all due respect - was never a board or business guy.
Coincidentally, just re-reading Michael Malone's Infinite Loop gives a good insight
into how uninterested Woz was/is in the business side of tech. Way back in the late
1970s, it was always Jobs that was looking for a deal. When Jobs offered the Apple I
to Commodore for $100,000 plus stock and positions with Commodore, Woz was interested
in the money. Unlike Jobs and Mike Markkula, he wasn't that enthusiastic about
starting a major corporate entity like Apple Computer.
