This app turns Photoshop designs into Director movies in seconds

Media Lab has announced the release of PhotoCaster, an essential tool for Macromedia
Director users at graphic design firms and corporate multimedia departments.

"After five months of development, including adding thousands of lines of new code and
modernizing much of the existing code, PhotoCaster 3 for OS X is the best PhotoCaster
ever," said Tom Summerall, president. "Our users have been clamoring for OS X
versions of all of our products, and over the next few weeks we will be unveiling them
starting with today's release of PhotoCaster," he added.

The OS X version of PhotoCaster 3 now supports Photoshop layer sets and improves layer
fx and text support, all with a redesigned more elegant interface based on MacOS X's
"Aqua" user interface paradigm.

There are versions of PhotoCaster 3 for both Classic and OS X. The version for OS X is
now available for download or on CD, and is priced $US 199. Crossgrade pricing starts
at $129 and those that have purchased PhotoCaster 3 before Dec 1 can upgrade for $49.
Those who purchased the app from Dec 1 can upgrade for "free."

Editor's note: From this observer's perspective, Media Lab is offering a graduated
upgrade path that's reasonable. More companies should take a longer term view of their
customers' investments in their products like this company has. Kudos.
