WWDC delay prompts PPC 970 speculation

Is the mothership looking to "wow" developers with synchronous hardware, software
previews?
The Register has posted a reported that posits that Apple may have delayed and moved
its annual World Wide Developer Conference not only to allow attendees the chance to
preview OS X 10.3, code named Panther, but also provide a sneak peak at
much-anticipated 64-bit systems based on IBM's 970 CPUs.
The 970, which is scheduled to sample in Q2, is expected to form the core of Apple's
next major pro desktop revision.
Editor's note: In a word, "no." Apple's not going to sink its pro desktop sales for
"X" months going forward just to give developers a peak.
If you're looking for conspiracies to justify Apple's decision to move the WWDC to San
Franciso, try this for size: The mothership is trying to squash Macworld once and for
all.
