I would suggest File::Copy instead
I second this, with one caveat: If you're backing up a file server that's used by pre-X Macs, or you're using Classic apps under X, you should be aware that File::Copy won't preserve resource forks. In that case you might want to use system() to call /Developer/Tools/CpMac instead.
