Thanks to everyone who pointed out that I could just hit return instead of entering a password for the darwinports CVS command.
I'm rather red-faced over it -- I did do that, and there was no output, and I returned to the command-line, so I thought that meant the login had failed! I'm really not thinking UNIX, am I?
