In which OS X version? I never encountered this failure until I got an
e-mail from the buildbot (and the only failure I received was on 10.5
PPC, not any other combination).

The maintainer said it's a bug with autoconf and it'll be fixed in the
next NeoMutt release. I have created a ticket to track the progress of
fixing the build:
