That's not exactly true, AFAIK they evolve independently (= much faster) 
nowadays and just use a compatible layout and packaging system. The main reason 
I moved from Debian to Ubuntu, btw.

Well, that doesn't seem to solve much :) -
"gnutls" is not distributable because its license "gpl" conflicts with license 
"OpenSSL" of dependency "openssl"
