In general problems are probably fixable in ports, e.g. by applying a patch file, if we knew what to patch. But we don't want to fix problems ourselves nor carry patch files forever. I'd report it to the developers of meld so they're aware of the problem and can either fix it or, if it's not their bug, we can learn whose bug it is and report it to them.
