I've been mucking around with Audacity on the mac myself. Editing commands work fine, though voiceover doesn't announce all that JFW under Windows is rumored to. Apparently track names are spoken and such. This would be very useful on the mac, but as of right now I uave to guess which ones are highilighted and which are not. The one access aid is a "bing" at the top and bottom of the track table. If Amadeus Pro is a multitrack editor I might consider it. I'm a big sound forge fan, and though it's singal-track and I can do multitrack-like work with it it takes a lot longer and I figure it's time for me to learn how to work with multiple tracks. It does make things easier when you can hear what and where you are mixing. I've listened to a Screenless Switchers with the segment on creating their logo with SoundStudio, and that app seemed to do all I've done with Sound Forge. I've heard there are tons of free AU effects (Mac's VST) so I don't think I will have a problem there. Is there any one podcast which compares those editors I've read about (fission, audacity, soundstudio)? One of the roundtables suggested that a future podcast might focus on it but I'd imagine that there have been one or two segments which have already been done (as I've already heard the afformentioned soundstudio segment).
