Hi Jane and Others,

Jonathan recently gave instructions on SMB file sharing. Here's the
link to the archive post:

You can read down the thread to his next comments with Control-N.

It's been some time since I tried connecting to a Windows machine
through Samba. The usual issue of getting into a Mac from a Windows
machine is the security settings that you have to check under the File
Sharing menu options in system preferences. Going from Mac to Windows
is a bit easier, and you can try using Command-K "Connect to Server"
command in Finder and typing in an SMB address (after following Jon's
instructions) for the Windows computer on your network (e.g.
smb://192.168.0.101)
. Mac to mac, after taking care of File Sharing permissions to permit
remote login or other features, use a similar address but with afp
instead smb (Apple File-sharing Protocol instead of Samba).

Cheers

Esther
