Hi,

What it sounds like you're looking for are "leaders". In things like a Table
of Contents, tabs are set in a manner whereby the Chapter or Section title is
entered, then leader dots are placed from the end the text over to the page
number. These dots are automatically placed using something called a "leader"
or a "fill". The leader can be dots (periods), dashes, underscores or other
symbols that one may desire. It sounds to me that you'd wish to use
underscores in this situation so that a solid line would be placed from the end
of the text to the far right of the text area. What you'd normally do here is
set a right tab-stop close to the right margin and set the underscore as a
leader for that specific tab. Now, the tricky part here is that tab-stops are
not particularly accessible in Pages at the moment. In the Formatter, under
the Layout pane of the Text formatter, you can set the position of a tab but I
haven't figured out how to tell it to be a right tab and/or to set the Leader.
Within the Tab table of the formatter, there is the combo-box for each, but I
haven't been able to manipulate them to change from the default of Left and
None. I believe that Anne posted some sort of workaround for tabs in Pages a
while back but I can recall what was suggested. Anne may be able to shed some
more light on this once the other side of the Atlantic wakes up. So, it's
possible in the sighted world, I just haven't yet figured out how to make it
work in the VO world. TextEdit doesn't appear to have this functionality
either, at least as far as I can tell.

Hope this helps some.
