We can't forget the comfort issue here. Many people who rely on  
technologies also rely less on themselves and treat the words of these  
"experts" as if these were  direct edicts issued from God his very own  
self.

I really believe that the technology has been permitted to stagnate in  
part because people aren't willing to try alternatives.

This list is a unique place where for the most part, we are all  
willing to at least attempt to break this hold.
