this may sound strange, but I had the same problem when I first got my MBA. It turned out that I was having trouble differentiating the space bar from the command key - they both are smooth and featureless keys right next to each other. I made a long strip of braille tape with letter l's spaced a few characters apart, just to make a bumped surface, and place the long strip of L's on the spacebar. Now I always know I'm pressing spacebar and not the adjacent command key because of the textured feel of the spacebar. I Told you it would sound strange.!
