As you found out, exporting the playlist will only export the text file containing the names and locations of the songs, not the actual songs themselves. And, there are no playlists stored in the media folder. If you want to copy the actual songs contained in the playlist onto another drive, like a thumb drive or something, do the following. 1, Go into your playlist in iTunes and select all the songs with command + A. 2, Copy the selected songs with command + C. 3, switch to the finder and highlight the folder/drive where you want to copy the song files and paste them with Command + V. Make sure you’re actually positioned on the folder/drive by either opening it (when in list view), or with the folder/drive highlighted ( when in column view).
