I have a Mac mini and I Mac along with an I phone 6 Plus and an Apple Watch. How I read mail is like this. Get to a message. Press enter, it then says content scroll area. I stop interacting with VO Up arrow. Then I VO left and VO right to read the messages if they are in a thread. I hope this will not confuse you.
