As a followup on this, my parents came for a visit this past weekend so I had them do the adawaremedic thing and it cleaned up a bunch of goo. My Dad said his machine is now running much faster and Safari doesn't redirect to weird random adware sites anymore.

Hi,
Go to thesafemac.com.

they have an app called adwaremedic. It scans for adware and other stuff like
that. It’s free and works great on my end. I use it in conjunction with clams.

Hi,

I just used an antivirus scanner on a mac for the first time. ClamXav. No
virus. This is a antivirus scanner as you know. My question is: is there a good
malware/spyware scanner compatible with voice over you know of?

Take care
