It does appear that the iCloud option is the only one that will work for me. I 
have tried rebooting. I have made sure to be locked in portrait mode, which I 
don't think should be necessary, but it is locked. These are not stock apps. 
So, I cloud here I come. I know this did not used to be necessary, and I can't 
understand why I have the problem on an iPad and not on an iPhone 6s, with 3D 
Touch and hence a more finicky delete process. Oh well.
