Most apps are gonna need to support interacting to some degree of level.  It's 
just how the mac works.

When you say going to the top and bottom of messages, be more specific.  Are 
you asking a way to go to the top of the message list, the top of a message 
you're composing, replying to, or forwarding? Or, do you mean more a message 
you're reading?

You're not providing quite enough info.
