Hi: I had this same issue, kind of. I had to make sure both computer, and apple tv were on the same network. I went to itunes, file, home sharing, to make sure the correct apple id was bing used. I put the same ID info in computers under the Apple TV. Here is the part I was screwing up. I didn’t have my laptop opened, and itunes opened when I was trying to use home share.
