I recently installed El Capitan and hadn’t used iBooks yet, but tried it just now. When I opened iBooks, I went to the book shelf table with my list of books and interacted with it. I didn’t see another window/table with the contents, so I double-click on my book, to open it. A window opened, but VO only dinged when I tried to move around. I had to turn VO off and on in order to read the book. If I interacted with the scroll area, I could only read my book a line at a time, but if I didn’t interact with it, VO would read all the text continuously.
