I read this article as well and have the following opinion.

I’m a big user of 3D touch. It took some getting used to and some retraining of
my fingers but for me as a VO user, it save time and allows me to use shortcuts
and get through or to things just that tiny bit faster.

Honestly, the excuse of not knowing whether an app has 3D touch until you press
on it is a bit spoiled to me. 1. Read the app description in the App Store.
They usually say if they have a 3D touch feature, especially as an update. 2.
Explore the app’s settings and help. Yes, that’s one more step but if you don’t
want to look stupid, which unless you’re up in front of a crowd doing a demo,
the 5 seconds or so it takes to find out that an app doesn’t have 3D touch,
will go unnoticed by 99% of the people around you. If you feel that much
pressure about operating your phone, and the use of the word *you* here is
generic, then I’d hate to be *you*.

I suspect that 3D touch was a concept Apple was trying. I have read that the
reason 3D touch is not on the new iPads is that it and the screen for drawing
with the new pencil did not work together. I know I read the technical reasons
but can’t recall them off hand.

I’m wondering how difficult it is to add 3D touch to an app. Do all apps need
it? That might be another factor.

I realize this sounds like being an Apple FanGirl or at least an apologist but
I happen to like the feature and hope it does show up in other devices. As for
the iPhone SE, I’m also curious as to how 3D touch would work on such a small
screen. Yes, it would have been nice to see it on said screen and see how it
would work. No reason it shouldn’t.

I’m also thinking that the iPhone SE came out in anser to the protests about
the larger phones and pricing. Adding 3D touch screens would have taken it out
of that price range.

All guesses on my part though so I’ll return to 3D touching my phone. Yeah,
EEEEWWWW!
