I think the big problem with 3D touch that the author of that article points out, is that it is not easily discoverable. Apple has violated one of the basic rules of UX design, discoverability. Reading weather 3-D touch is available once doesn't cut it. You might forget if an app has it or not. Sure, you can test and see. But that is such a basic rule of design, that it really is surprising that Apple, the company which prides itself on making a superior user experience, did not make someway to make this immediately discoverable.
