If you didn’t install VMWare Tools yet, then choose that option from the VM
menu to get them installed. They support folder sharing, copy-and-paste
between host and guest, and all that.

If you have them installed, then if I remember right you should find the Shrink
tab in the Control Panel applet for VMWare Tools. If your machine was booted
up in a shrinkable state, you can push a button to commence that process. You
should also look in General settings on the Mac to make sure there’s a button
for “Clean up now”, while the machine is up, as I believe VMWare have made some
changes which mean this is no longer directly exposed in Windows.

If you don’t find the applet, then you can do it from the command line. Run
the “vmware-toolbox-cmd.exe” tool with parameters “disk shrink c:\”. This
should work, no matter what. This is how the process ultimately becomes
invoked and is how I do it. For some reason the applet doesn’t even show up on
one of my VMs, and this is the workaround.

Give that lot a try and see how you get on. You’ll know when it’s worked.
