It took a while for me to clean up a mess I made. Then today I
realized that there were in fact some apps (the more recent purchases)
that never transferred to iTunes.
Its bizarre because in researching this, I have found that Apple no
longer supports the transfer function in iOS 9 and iTunes 12.3. I found
no remedy for this. I probably could address this by enabling automatic
downloads but at this point, I am leery of it for I do not know what all
will return to my iTunes..
So now I I have to wonder if I ever need to restore my iDevices,
what will actually be restored.
Its bizarre because the tranfer option still resides on the iTines
file menu.

attach your iOS device, simply delete the apps from your computer and from your
phone, separately.

1.
Make certain that your iOS device is not attached to your computer.

From within the app section of iTunes on your computer, find the app you wish
to remove and, from the shortcut menu, select remove/delete. Do this for all
your unwanted apps.

Now, remove any unwanted apps from your iOS device. I am assuming these will

Basically, that's all there is to it.
Now, the next time you connect your iOS device to your computer, there will be
no apps to or from which to sync.

I generally install apps directly onto my iOS devices. They sync to iTunes
on the Mac. What I want to do now is clean out some old ones from iTunes then
