So when I first started out my career I actually worked for a software company 
in this space.  If you were hooked up to a Heartlab or Egfa device you might 
have been using some of my handy work.;). We built the imaging systems that 
attach to the catheter and stored all the images in the archives for review on 
review stations.
        I mention this because I know there were a few viewers out there for 
medical images that were free or free to try as you mentioned.  Comm View used 
to have a free reader available.  You might check the www.heartlab.com 
<http://www.heartlab.com/> site and see what they have.  The company has long 
since been sold off from the people I worked with but they continue to do 
interesting things and might be a good resource here.
        Toshiba Medical is a third place to look.
