Hello All, Well, I now have an iPHone X, on loan for a few days.
I must say, as has been reported by others, that the new Home/App switcher gesture commands work beautifully with VoiceOver. Also, Face ID was a breeze to set up, however, I would like to note that I have enough vision to see exactly how to position the front-facing camera. Be that as it may, as a low-vision user, I toggle the Invert Color feature on and off, countless times during the day. On previous iPHone models, this was not a problem being that the Home button was located in the bottom center of the phone. However, with iPHone X, I must use the side button, located on the right side of the device. I am left-handed. In fact, to my surprise, I realized that I am really, really a left-handed person when it comes to iPhone. (smile) Consequently, it is no longer as convenient to use Invert Colors as I am having to toggle this feature with either my right hand or hold the phone in a slightly awkward position in order to reach the side button with my middle finger on my left hand. I do not have a case for this phone so don't know if I'd be able to reach the button with my left hand were the device placed inside such an accessory. In terms of making a decision as to which phone to purchase, I will need more time with iPhone X. However, I can tell you that, at this point, I am leaning towards iPHone 8 Plus if for no other reason but that I prefer the triple-click button to be in a more neutral location on the phone than is currently the case on iPHone X. If there were no iPHone 8 series, I would most likely purchase iPhone X and learn to live with it; however, currently I have a choice and for this I am grateful. What I hope is that, someday, Apple, along with all the other hardware manufacturers, will allow user-defined hardware button assignments. For example, iPHone 11 would have 4 hardware buttons, 2 on each side and the user could determine which is for volume up, Siri, Screen Lock, etc. Per chance to dream, eh?
