Hi,
Surely the consumer should be allowed to make the choice. If the “Update” is 
going to subject the “Hardware” too such stress, that can cause damage, he/she 
may choose to rather continue and for go the added advances which comes with 
the new update, rather then the unilateral enforced slow down.
Call me “backward” I still miss, the navigation ability, we had in”Prevue with 
PDF documents” back in the day of “OS X 4 Tiger”.
